Nick van Woert – Melted Plastic Art
Nick van Woert is a sculptor born in 1979 in Reno, Nevada. Much of his work is created using pre-existing sculptures as a foundation, because they highlight the evolution of the monolith to a chemical cocktail of materials. His works are full of hypnotic colours. Firstly, he places the plaster cast on the ground and pours the plastic over it. “The idea is that the shape of the sculpture determines the shape of the blob… losing control is fun, because you make something that is more beautiful than you could ever create yourself,” said Nick van Woert.
