Kolman Boye Architects – Vega Cottage

Kolman Boye Architects - a Vega Cottage

Vega Cottage is a breathtaking project by Stockholm-based duo Kolman Boye Architects, which was founded in 2013 by Erik Kolman Janouch and Victor Boye Julebäk. The house stands on the island of Vega in the Norwegian archipelago not far from the polar circle. The large windows open to wide panoramas of the Norwegian Sea and high mountains. The site is distinctive for its grand and harsh northern landscape, remaining untouched and wild. The cottage has two levels: the lower level is a large gallery-like space structured around a stone hearth, while the upper level is comprised of smaller scale bedrooms and family rooms. The project is informed by cultural heritage and the physical qualities of architecture.
