Todd Hale is a photographer and mixed media artist born in 1973 in Richmond, Virginia. He got his BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. He works in a lot of different media which helps him to generate creative ideas. Waiting for the big idea to happen does not work for Todd as he believes in the benefits of constantly working and refining his art. He thinks that an artist should be an explorer, psychic, shaman and provocateur. As a child he was strongly inspired by the work of Hieronymus Bosch – “the Garden of Earthly Delights.” “Great art leaves you with more questions than answers,” he says. Todd seems to be drawn to biological forms and metaphors for perception. These collage works reveal the thrilling euphoria of being fascinated by the world, with a sense of discovery and mystery.
